It is with great sadness and regret we announce the passing of our beloved mother Jeannette Gervais. Jeannette Theresa Gervais, of Prince Albert SK, 84, left us to be with the lord January 2, 2011 at the Victoria Hospital surrounded by family and friends. She was born January 7, 1926 in the Batoche area. She was daughter of late Octavie (nee Parenteau) and Arthur Caron. She was the youngest of two siblings, and predeceased by an infant sister. Jeannette was orphaned at the young age of eight months old. She and her brother lived with their grandparents after their parents died a week apart from each other. Some of her fondest memories growing up were spent at her grandparents home, fishing in the South Saskatchewan River with her brother. The two were inseparable at a young age. Jeannette lived in various locations within Canada, and finally settled in Prince Albert approximately forty years ago. She was a very hard worker, and held various positions of employment throughout the years. She ended her work career in homecare which she enjoyed thoroughly. Jeannette had a passion for hockey. She was a fan of the Prince Albert Raiders, which she followed loyally throughout the years. She also had a deep passion for politics. One of her proudest moments was following her youngest son throughout his career on city council. A deeply religious woman, she enjoyed camping at the St Laurent shrine. She was also a loyal parishioner of St Joseph Roman Catholic Church at the time of her passing. Anyone who met Jeannette had the privilege to enjoy her friendly conversation, infectious laugh, and sense of humour. She was a kind woman who was always ready to lend a helping hand. Jeanette is survived by her children Ivan (Charlene) Parenteau, Wayne Parenteau, Barry (Kim) Parenteau, Lorie (Jeff) Neufeld and Darcy (Jennifer) Gervais; grandchildren Barry (Jennifer), Tamara, Chantelle (Jody), Jesse, Devon, Dallas, Dylan and Taylor; great grandchildren Kylar, Isabelle, Elizabeth and Alexis and her only niece Judy Caron. Jeanette also had a deep love for animals, and will be sadly missed by her companions Gilligan and Gidget. Jeannette was predeceased by her husband Archie Gervais; parents Octavie Parenteau and Arthur Caron; brother Lawrence Caron; infant sister Violet; grandmother Octavie Pilon; grandfather Alec Parenteau; and Ivan, Wayne and Barry’s father Edwin Parenteau. The family would also like to send a warm thank you to Dr. Maier, who went above and beyond to take care of our mother throughout the years. Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Mr. Brian Clarke officiating. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 7, 2011 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 260 – 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Celebrant Reverend Father Matthew Nguyen.
