Iola Ruby Dearing

DEARING-Iola Ruby “Toots”. It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Iola Ruby “Toots” Dearing (nee Kennedy) late of Weirdale, SK on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the age of 80 years. She was born January 17, 1930 at Wingard, SK the youngest child of Fred & Mary Kennedy. Toots moved to the Weirdale area in 1939 with her parents. She married William Edward “Ted” Dearing on November 18, 1950. Toots was very active in the community cooking at fall suppers, sports days and flipping many burgers in the Weirdale Curling Rink. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and playing cards as she watched sports on her favourite station TSN. This past year Toots reached many milestones, her 80th birthday, her 60th wedding anniversary and the Kennedy Family Reunion. Toots is survived by her husband of 60 years Ted Dearing, children Joan (John) Truba, Bruce (Sherry) Dearing, Sydney (Della) Dearing, Betty Glatley (Kelvin Balan), Victor Fredrick Dearing, Marie (Milton) Aiken, Marilyn Dearing (Travis Pistun), Myrna (Clint) Roeddecke, 20 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Charlie Elliott (Trish Jones), Leone (Morris) Sider, Don (Janice) Dearing, Irene (Henry) Mohr and Emily Dearing, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son Samuel David Dearing, parents Fred & Mary Kennedy and her brothers, sisters and in-laws Ethel (Harry) Davies, Tucker (Adelaide) McKay, Bill (Verna) Kennedy, twins Ray and Russell Kennedy, Jessie (Tom) Mann, Cliff Kennedy, infant brother Herbert Kennedy; Parents-in-law Bill & Leila Dearing, sister-in-law Betty Elliott and brother-in-law Ken Dearing. Donations in-lieu of tributes may be made to the Victoria Hospital Foundation. Memorial Service Saturday, January 22nd, 2011 at 1:00 PM in Northern Funeral Service-MacKenzie Chapel, 130-9th St. E. Prince Albert with Rev.Fr. Maurice Fiolleau officiating. Interment Memorial Gardens.
