FRIESEN – Esther Karine (nee Akre),late of Birch Hills, SK passed away January 24, 2011 in Prince Albert at the age of 88 years. She was born January 24, 1923 in Prince Albert to Harold and Ragna Akre, of Hagen, SK. She was one of 10 children. She married George Friesen, July 16, 1944, in Vancouver, BC. After the war they moved to Debden, SK. In 1944 were they settled down and raised 5 children, Harley Friesen (Louisa) of Niagara Falls, Vera Friesen of Saskatoon, Marlene Lypchuk (Don) of Birch Hills, Bob Friesen (Debbie) of Saskatoon and Shirley Friesen of Saskatoon. They returned home to Birch Hills in 1963 where they settled on the farm in the Birch Hills area. Esther has 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband George; brothers George and Chester; Sisters, Alice and Ruth, and Her parents Harold and Ragna. She is survived by her brothers Rhuben and Herman, and sisters Hilma and Verna. Esther was very devoted to her family and friends. She enjoyed entertaining everyone with her wonderful music, playful song and her faith in God. She enjoyed entertaining everyone with her piano, guitar and accordion. Her most recent instrument that she learned to play was the squeezebox. Esther knew how to light up a room with her beautiful smile and her spontaneity when she played and sang. No one could resist the temptation to join in song with her. Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Saran Lutheran Church, Hagen, SK with Pastor Sonja Finnestad officiating. Interment Saron Cemetery. Esther has requested in lieu of flowers, to make a donation to a charity of your choice. ”Miss me a little-But not too long and not with your head bowed low.
