John Hodgson

John passed away with his family at his side following a 4 year battle with cancer. He was born August 10, 1948 to John and Ruth Hodgson in Birch Hills. John grew up on the family farm outside of St. Louis and attended school in St. Louis, graduating from Birch Hills Composite High School. He attended Saskatchewan Technical Institute where he obtained his journeymen in Automotive and Heavy Duty Mechanics. John was employed at Modern Motors for numerous years, then proprietor of Riverview Service in St. Louis from 1977 until he started his life long career at Cameco – Key Lake Operation in 1979, where he made many longtime friends. John enjoyed wood working, playing guitar, spending time outdoors, camping with friends and family and especially hunting with his sons. John is survived by his wife of 25 years, Nancy; his sons Mathew, Christopher (Autumn), Shawn and Ryan; Raider Billet son’s Kyle Chipchura and Ashton Hewson; his mother Ruth; siblings Elsie (Ernie) Fast, Larry (Julie), Stan (Louise) and Herb (Paulette); his brothers-in-law Donald (Shelley) Barbour and Fred (Barb) Barbour and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his father John and his parents-in-law Jack and Betty Barbour. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday March 10, 2011 at the First Baptist Church, 1351 – 28th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Peter Basson officiating. Private Family Interment will be held. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations may be made to the Victoria Hospital Foundation, Level 5 Palliative Care Unit, 1200 – 24th Street West, Prince Albert, SK S6V 5T4.
