Thomas Stuart “Tom” Fisher
January 30, 1919 to March 20, 2011
Having lived a full life, dad passed away peacefully with his family gathered around. Dad will be remembered as a caring person, who enjoyed his family. He was an adventurer, an aviator, a brother, a husband, a father, a grandfather, a great-grandfather, and, in his own right, a humanitarian. Dad worked at many occupations, particularly around accounting and co-operative management, always with the view to completing his work in a professional manner, while ensuring the people with whom he worked grew in their abilities. His work included long service with the Department of Co-operation and Co-operative Development. In this role, he assisted many northern co-operatives in their growth and development. Upon retirement, he and his wife, Billie, travelled extensively in Canada and the US, both as tourists and in their quest to earn their life masters in bridge. Dad and mom were active in their local bridge club. Tom was pre-deceased by: his first wife, Elizabeth Margaret (Peggy) Cooke in 1952; son Peter in 2006 and his brother Ken in 2005. Rejoicing God’s gift to us in Tom are: Wilhelmina (Billie) (nee: Kruger) wife of 55 years; son Craig (Jacqueline), children Shannen (Dave Patola), Adrian (Dawna) and Loydette (Gene Greschuk); daughter-in-law Gail, children Carri and Terran (Penny); son Gordon (Rose), children Melissa, Ryan and Rebecca; daughter Elaine (Allen Kelly), children Michael and Nicholas; son David (Naida), children Blaine (Pho Dai) and Michael; son Paul, children Kristin, Dean and Sean; 3 great-grandchildren and sister Betty Beach of Winnipeg. Our family extends our thanks to Good Shepherd Villa for their excellent care during the past 5 years. Dad’s life journey ended at Victoria Hospital under the care of some very dedicated and caring nurses and doctors. Thank you for your care. For her timely, thoughtful care and support, we thank Reverend Nora Vedress of Calvary United Church. We are truly honoured to have such wonderful people and institutions. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2011 at the Calvary United Church, 114 – 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Nora Vedress officiating. A tea is to follow. In lieu of other tributes, the family requests that memorial donations can be made to the Victoria Hospital Foundation, 1200 -24th Street West, Prince Albert, SK S6V 5T4. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel, Drew Gray, Funeral Director.
