CHRIST- Rolf Karl, late of Prince Albert, passed away at his home on Friday, May 06, 2011 at the age of 76.
Rolf was born in Heidelberg, Germany on December 09, 1934 to Karl and Sophie Christ. He lived in the town of Eberbach. Rolf moved to Canada in the 1950s after training as a millwright in Germany. He worked most recently for Weyerhaeuser, where he served as the maintenance supervisor.
Rolf married his wife Helen on October 06, 1962. They lived their entire married life in Prince Albert with regular visits to Germany to visit Rolf’s family and friends. They also enjoyed spending time at Emma Lake where they have a cabin.
Rolf struggled with early-onset Parkinson’s disease for more than 35 years. For nearly all of that time, Rolf was still able to travel back to Germany and to enjoy summers at the family cabin. Indeed, he worked at Weyerhaeuser for more than 10 years after the diagnosis of his condition. Throughout his struggle, he helped to further research into Parkinson’s disease by volunteering for drug trials.
Rolf was a talented builder and fixer. It gave him joy to make things with his hands.
Rolf is survived by his wife of 48 years Helen Christ (nee Olynuk); his brothers Karlheinz (Kathe) and Dieter (Giesele); his daughter June (Simon) and their daughters Jordan and Chayce; and his daughter Jackie (Mario) and their daughter Sophia and son Adam.
