Deault – Edouard Joseph was born September 4, 1920 and passed away May 17, 2011 at the Lakeview Pioneer Lodge in Wakaw. Edouard will be sadly missed by his children: Helen (Murray) Mack, Rita (Larry) Rose, Simone (Don) Delorme, Paul (Pearl) Deault, Yvonne (Bernie) Burtney, Paulette (Glen) Thompson, and Celine (Andre) Perillat; his sisters: Emma Duval, Aline (Henri) Boutin, Camilla Gaudet, Lorraine (Andre) Boutin, and Jeannette (Aurele) Gaudet; his brother Robert (Lois) Deault; 16 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife Anida Gaudet in 2008 and his parents Edmond and Antoinette Deault.
Edouard attended Gaudet School, after which he worked at home and for different farmers until he was drafted to the Army in 1942. After basic training in Regina and Nanaimo, BC, he was sent overseas. He landed in England and was stationed in different locations such as Belgium, Germany, and then finally Holland, where he was sent to the front. He spent four hours at the front where he was wounded. He was sent back to a hospital in Belgium to recuperate during which time the war ended. In 1946, after spending four years in the Canadian Army, he was officially discharged. He returned home in 1947 and purchased a farm near Bellevue. He met Anida Gaudet and they were married in a triple wedding on October 14, 1948. They farmed until they retired in 1980. That year, they built a new house in Bellevue. Edouard enjoyed many hobbies such as wood working, fiddle playing, crafts, and fishing. He enjoyed watching his family grow, attending weddings, birthdays, and various events in his children’s, grandchildren’s, and great grandchildren’s lives.
The mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Isidore Roman Catholic Church in Bellevue. Donations in memory of Edouard may be directed to the Foyer Jesus Marie (Bellevue Care Home). Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Marc Blondeau of Kushneryk Funeral Service of Wakaw. 233-4403
