Edythe was born on March 25, 1924 on the family farm near Wiseton, SK the fifth of nine children of James and Isabelle Richardson. On Monday May 30, 2011 she quietly stepped into heaven to be with her Lord.
Edythe was predeceased by her husband Arthur; as well as her brother Gordon and sisters Eileen, Mary, Marion and Olive and also her son-in-law Bill Schultz. She is survived by her brother William Richardson of Royden, Middlesex UK; and, her sisters Mildred Siegel of Lanigan, SK and Audrey (Jim) Sorenson of Burnaby, BC. She is also survived by her children Loraine Schultz (Norm Selby) of Spiritwood, SK, Caroline Hill (Gary) of Kelowna, BC, Lorne (Sandra) of Weldon, SK and David (Jean) of Regina, SK as well as 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Gramma’s great joy was her grandchildren and she stayed here with us until she was able to see the most recent great grandchildren and then quietly left for a better home.
Edythe spent her childhood on the family farm near Wiseton, SK. She came to Weldon, SK to work for Joe and Bessie Christopherson and to go to High School. It was here that she met Arthur and they were married in 1942. She actively participated in the farm as well as volunteering in many community and church events. After Arthur’s death she moved into Prince Albert where she worked as a Parish Worker for Messiah Lutheran Church for a number of years before retiring and moving back to Weldon.
Those who knew her were blessed to enjoy the results of her passion for needlepoint and the beauty of her gardens. Edythe was always willing to help when it was needed and will be fondly remembered by all those whose lives she touched. Edythe and her family greatly appreciated the wonderful care that she received at both the Weldon Country Villa and at the Birch View Home.
In Lieu of flowers donations can be directed to the Weldon Country Villa or the Weldon Lutheran Church (Tanzania Project).
