Edward Michael Dernoga
April 13, 1940 – June 5, 2011
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Edward Dernoga at the age of 71 on June 5, 2011. Edward was born and raised in the Steep Creek area. He farmed there with his parents. He had a strong sense of family, which extended across the sea to Poland. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force after high school graduation. He was proud to serve his country and worked as a radar technician. Final rank corporal. In 1964 he started working at the Prince Albert Correctional Centre and retired as Team Leader in June 1996. In July 1966, he married the love of his life Lynn, they made Prince Albert their home. After retirement he returned to farming.
Left to cherish his memory are: his wife Lynn (nee Stevenson); his sisters Sophie Zazula, Winnie (Julie) Shober and Patricia (Jim) Dorman; his sisters-in-law Betty Dernoga and Sylvia (Dale) McLeod and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother Katherine; his father Walter; his brothers Casper and Joe; his nephews Larry and Greg Shober; his brothers-in-law Alex Suffczynski and Nicolas Zazula; his mother-in-law Pearle Stevenson and his father-in-law Robert Stevenson.
Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Calvary United Church, 114 – 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Dennis Serfas, Spiritual Director Care, Prince Albert Parkland Health Region officiating. Private Family Interment will be held.
In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to Charity of Donor’s Choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel, Lorne Adams, Funeral Director.
