Katherine Tomyn
March 19, 1947 – June 9, 2011
It is with great sadness that the family of Kathy Tomyn announces her sudden passing on June 9, 2011 at the age of 64. Kathy was the second child of Bob and Evelyn Simpson of Rosthern. During her school years, Kathy was actively involved in school activities. Being the Social Director of the SRC was a special time in her life.
Kathy met her future husband Bill in 1963 and they were married in 1969 in Saskatoon. Kathy began her 29 year teaching career in Duck Lake. After marriage and the birth of her son Robert, she taught in Leoville, Tisdale and PA Catholic School Division for over 20 years. Kathy made many close friends during this time. She was always ready to lend an ear or prepare a special meal for those in time of need.
In her personal life, Kathy had many interests. Cooking fine meals and trying out new recipes were a big part of her life. Emma Lake was her favorite summer destination. Kathy’s planters full of flowers were her pride and joy. Dad’s love of multiple cars did not rub off on Kathy, except for the black convertible – many road trips were taken. Kathy had nine years of retirement spent cooking and baking for her family and special neighbor Bob. Many tupperware containers have been misplaced at Rob’s house.
Kathy will be lovingly remembered by her husband of nearly 42 years, Bill; her son Robert (Melany) and her grandchildren Brittney, Megan, Brock and Madelyn. She is also survived by her sister Pat (Jim) and their children Jamie and Lynn; her sister-in-law Lynda and her children Tim and Lindsay; her brother-in-law Matt (Margaret) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents Bob and Evelyn and her brother John.
Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 260- 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with celebrant Reverend Father Matthew Nguyen. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 – 3rd Avenue N, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel, Marianne Turcotte, Funeral Director.
