KULYK – Mary (nee Dickie)
The family of Mary (Anne) Kulyk express their deep sadness of her passing on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Victoria Union Hospital in Prince Albert. Mary was the eldest child of Jim (James) and Sally (nee Andrusek) Dickie and was born at the Holy Family Hospital. She is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Theodore (Ted) of Prince Albert, SK; two sons, Wayne (Sheryl) of Warman, SK and Glen of Duluth, Minnesota; grandsons, Landon and Lucas; siblings, Margaret (Elmer) Malec of Prince Albert, SK, Raymond (Roberta) Dickie of Moose Jaw, SK and Robert (Edie) Dickie of Nanaimo, BC; sisters-in-law, Doris Dickie and Gladys Kulyk; numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her Aunt Rose Moldowan and Uncle John Andrusek.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, Jim and Sally Dickie; brother, Bill; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Michael and Dora Kulyk; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Paul, Mary, Ann, Dmytro and Kay.
Mary was very passionate about her family especially grandsons, Landon and Lucas. She was an avid supporter of her grandsons’ extra curricular activities. Mary was a den mother with the Boy Scouts, enjoyed trailering to Waskesiu and Emma Lakes, visiting in Western Canada and the Great Lakes Region, USA. Mary enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, doing crossword puzzles, participating in activities in schools her children attended. At a younger age she volunteered for the UCWL, as well as the Ukrainian Club. She loved singing in church choirs, having a beautiful, strong soprano voice. The Veselka Choir was her favorite assembly of singers, taking part in the production of two Ukrainian CDs.
After completing high school and attending Park City Business College, she was employed at the old Sask. Box Factory, later Sask. Timber Board as a clerk typist II. Later she was approached by and gained employment as a teacher aide working at Christopher Lake, then being offered a transfer to Composite School in Prince Albert where she ended her employment. She worked diligently, enjoyed her interaction with all the staff and students. She will be missed by all.
The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 770 – 14th St. West, Prince Albert, SK. Donations in memory of Mary may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements entrusted to Hawryluk Funeral Home. 922.6611
