Isaac Gunderson

GUNDERSON- Isaac George, late of Mont Nebo, SK. passed away in Prince Albert on June 20th, 2011 at the age of 86 with his wife Edna by his side.
Isaac was born on January 8, 1925 in Canwood, SK. and raised in Mont Nebo, taking his schooling at the Mistawasis School in the Mont Nebo district. In 1948 Isaac moved to BC ,and worked as a heavy equipment operator until 1963 when he moved to the States and worked all over Oregon and Washington as a heavy equipment operator in the construction business. In 1967 he got a job that lasted almost three years clearing the site for the present day Boeing Company, the largest building in the world. He also worked on the Alaska Pipeline during his time in Washington.
Returning back to Mont Nebo in 1974, he purchased the store in 1978 where he remained working until his retirement. He married Edna Jung in 1950, and raised two lovely girls. When he was younger he enjoyed playing ball. He also enjoyed Fishing, traveling, curling, golfing, cards and playing music. He was also involved in the Mont Nebo Community Club Seniors Group and for many years volunteered his time as Community Club President.
Isaac is survived by his loving wife Edna of 61 years; his children: Joyce (Steve) Newsome of Snohomish, Wash., Sherry (Glenn) Mezzo of Mont Nebo, SK.; his four grandchildren: Cieanna & Isaac Newsome, Tamara (Gord Graham) Mezzo, and Shalaine Mezzo. Great grandchildren Benn & Sam Graham, his brother: Arnold Gunderson(Dot Holmes) of Shellbrook, SK.; his brother-in-law: Don Whitehouse of Victoria B.C.; his sisters-in-law: Elsie Gunderson of Victoria, BC. and Myrtle (Wayne) Six of Prince George, BC. As well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Isaac was predeceased by his parents: Gunder & Asborg Gunderson; his daughter: Gail Anne; his brothers: John (Dorothy) Gunderson and Jacob (Margaret) Gunderson; his sister: Ilma (Ingvald) Gunderson; his sister-in-law: Frances Gunderson; his mother and father-in-law, Billy & Christy Jung; brother and sisters-in-law: Harold (Erna) Jung, Hugo (Edna) Jung, Viola (Alex) Olson, Lorna Whitehouse, and Irvin Jung.
Isaac will be remembered as a loving, kind, gentle family man and will be greatly missed by all.
In lieu of tributes, donations can be made to the Aaseral Cemetery. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday June 25th at 2:00 pm in the Mont Nebo Community Hall, interment to follow at the Aaseral Cemetery. Lunch to follow.
