Gerald Ash

Mr. Gerald “Jerry” Charles Ash passed away at the Victoria Union Hospital.
Jerry was born July 13, 1931 in Regina, SK, moving to Birch Hills as a toddler. He was predeceased by his wife Cathie (Pepper) in 1994, father Reg in 1985 and mother Bermie in 2006. Jerry is survived by sons Elton (Jayne) Ash and Wes (Sheila) Ash; daughters Leih (Tom) Mulvihill and Arlene (Jay) Good; grandchildren Celeste (Kai) Schneider, Tanya (Aaron) Schenk, Sabrina Ash, Sarah-Jayne Ash, Alicia, Andrew and Edward Mulvihill, Seamus and Adriane Good and three great grandchildren. Also left to mourn, his special friend Margaret Polonich and her family.
Jerry loved many things – his time in the Air Force squadron 406, where he made many friends, Angus cattle – Jerry served for many years as Manitoba/Saskatchewan fieldman, his time managing the Camrose Agricultural Society keying the phrase 'Love a Fair' and his home town of Birch Hills, where he served as president and past president of the Historical Society. Other joys included inventing things, woodwork and working on medals for veterans.
On June 11, 2011 Jerry lost his battle with cancer, a disease more stubborn than he. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Birch Hills, SK with the Reverend Chris Harper officiating. Interment will be held at the Birch Hills Cemetery, with lunch to follow at the Birch Hills Museum.
In lieu of other tributes memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 54 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9 or the Birch Hills Historical Society, 7 Wilson Street, Birch Hills, SK S0J 0G0. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel, Drew Gray, Funeral Director.
