CURTIS MARLIN THOMPSON 1937 – 2011
With great sadness, Curtis Thompson, a wonderful husband¸ father and man has passed away at St. Paul’s Hospital, Palliative Care on Sunday July 3rd 2011. Curtis is survived by his wife Ann; two daughters, Suzanne Zelenski (twin grandsons Dane and Jacob), Onnolee (Scott) Osbourne; as well as his sister Willis McClymont; sisters-in-law Marion Austin and Rose Chorney; nieces and nephews Miles McClymont, Kari-Dale Rubisch, Jeff Austin, Bryan Austin, Darrell Chorney and their families; as well as numerous cousins and other relatives. He was predeceased by his parents Cryus and Pauline, mother-in-law Catherine Chorney, brothers-in-law John Chorney and George McClymont and nephew James McClymont.
Curtis was born in Wadena on October 19th, 1937. He grew up in Kylemore and completed high school in Wadena. After two years at the University of Saskatchewan, he embarked on a 30 year career with the Saskatchewan Department of Highways as a land negotiator. In 1959 he met Ann Chorney while working in Saskatoon. They were married in 1963 and began to raise their family, moving often between Regina, Prince Albert and Saskatoon.
Curtis enjoyed woodworking and was an exceptional craftsman. His great sense of humour and very dry wit kept everyone on their toes. Curtis was a true naturalist and animal lover. An avid reader, he was a wealth of knowledge on most any subject. He also took great joy in tree seed propagation. Time spent with family was particularly important to Curtis, regardless of occasions. Curtis will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.
A private family graveside service will take place on Wednesday, July 6th 2011 in Wadena, SK. Condolences may be sent to mail@saskatoonfuneralhome.com.
In lieu of flowers the family encourage everyone to plant a tree in memory of Curtis. Please remember to water it.
Donations may also be made to the Saskatchewan Lung Association. (1231 8th St. E. Saskatoon, SK S7H 0S5). Arrangements have been entrusted to Saskatoon Funeral Home.
