William “Bill” McKnight
(April 23, 1925 – August 21, 2011)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bill “Willie” McKnight. He will be greatly missed by his sons; Cliff (Betty) and Denis; his grandchildren Terry (Julie), Sean, Kristy and Spencer; his great-grandchildren; Kristen, Andrew, Kayden, Summer and Taylor, and his sister Marjorie (Mike) Skopyk. Bill is predeceased by his wife of 62 years, his parents George & Francis, a brother Sam(Peg), and sisters Freda(Clift) Felt; Viola (Burt) Colby, brothers-in-law Bill Yurach and Mike Skopyk.
Bill joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on August 24, 1943 and after training went overseas where he was stationed in England. He was very proud to be a tail gunner on a Lancaster airplane. While in England he met and married his war bride Beryl Pinchin. He was discharged on March 8, 1946 and moved to Big River where he was the post master for 31 years until his retirement.
The funeral service will be held on August 24, 2011 at the Big River Community Centre.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Lakewood Lodge Auxiliary.
