Ethel Isabelle Stewart (nee Banks)
(January 20, 1920 – August 30, 2011)
It is with great sadness, that we announce the peaceful passing of Ethel Isabelle Stewart on August 30, 2011, at the age of 91 years at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK.
Born in Oxbow, SK, on January 20, 1920, Isabelle was predeceased by her parents Mabel and Chester Banks; all of her brothers and sisters, and her husband John in 1997 (husband of 50 years). She is survived by her two sons, Ron (Carla) and Bob (Barbara); six grandchildren Amy (Stu Nunn), David, Jessica, Jamie (Tony King), Brad and Tim and her two great grandchildren Lily and Jordan.
Growing up on a farm in Southern Saskatchewan, Isabelle gained a terrific work ethic and had great multi-tasking capabilities. She started her working career as a telephone operator, CAA advisor, and a successful 20 year real estate career in the Prince Albert area. Isabelle was an organizer, a business woman, a wonderful mother and a great cook. She loved gardening and hosting family and friends. Her life was full of medical challenges, all of which she handled with great stoicism. She loved all of her close friends at Wesley United Church, Marquis Towers and Fraser Place. She had limited eyesight for the last several years, but was able to adjust her lifestyle accordingly, and was admired by so many around her. She coped remarkably well under tough circumstances.
In the memory of Isabelle, a celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 2, 2011 at the Wesley United Church, 65 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Tony Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at the family plot at the Veteran's Section at the South Hill Cemetery. A lunch will follow in the basement of the church. All donations may be made to the Cancer Society, which she greatly supported with her involvement in CanSurmount.
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, Marianne Turcotte, Funeral Director.
