(1914 – 2011)
Born in Winnipeg on February 16,1914 to recent immigrants from Aberdeen, Scotland, Bob passed away peacefully on August 13, 2011 at the age of 97.
Bob married Beatrice Knight on July 14, 1939. Bea passed away in 2005 after over 65 years of marriage. Together, they had seven sons: Bob, Barry, Brian, Bruce, Blair, Brent and Brad. After serving overseas for 3 1/2 years in WW2, he returned to his employment as a storekeeper with the CNR in Winnipeg, The Pas, MB, Atikokan, ON, Calgary, and Saskatoon, retiring to Calgary in 1975 after proudly serving 46 years.
Bob was a two term councilor in Fort Garry, now part of Winnipeg, and was a Mason for over 55 years and a Shriner. Bob enjoyed excellent health for 97 of his 97 1/2 years. His final home was in Prince Albert where he had resided under the wonderful care of his son, Blair and daughter-in-law, Darlene for the past 3 years.
Bob leaves behind 7 sons, 5 daughters-in-law, 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and his sister, Jessie. He was predeceased by his wife, Bea, and his daughter-in-law, Carole.
Bob donated his body to medical science. A private memorial service will be held by his family at a later date.
