It is with great sadness that the family of June Woytowich announce her passing on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 after a 1 and one-half year battle with cancer, at the age of 79. June is now in the loving arms of her husband Emil, who passed away in June 2011.
Mourning her passing are her son David (Nicole), daughter Carol Henry, and son Robert (Adrienne), all of Saskatoon. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Alynne Henry (Todd Pols) of Vancouver, BC, Jocelyn Henry (Scott Gamwell), Kelbey Woytowich, Maureen and Michael Woytowich; and her great- granddaughter Natalie Henry-Gamwell, all of Saskatoon. Also mourning her passing are her sister Margaret Graham of Melfort, SK, sisters-in-law Mary Connell of Calgary, AB, Fran (Harry Whiting), Saskatoon, SK, and numerous nieces and nephews. June was predeceased by her loving husband, Emil; parents Carl and Mae Carlson; parents- in-law Michael and Stella Woytowich; and brothers-in-law, Jack Graham, Robert Connell, and Alexander (Anne) Woytowich.
June was born June 28, 1932 in Davidson, SK. When she was six months old her family moved to Melfort, SK. June grew up on the farm, and after graduating from high school in Melfort, she moved to Saskatoon where she attended the Saskatoon Technical Collegiate to take a business course, and worked as a clerk/secretary. June joined the Army Reserves where she met Emil, to whom she was married for 55 years.
June lovingly raised her family and was extremely proud of all her children’s accomplishments. June was extremely talented and creative. She busied herself with sewing, knitting and crocheting, for her family. June also loved to garden, and gave special attention to her roses. Her love for animals was always evident.
When younger, she enjoyed her horses, and when her children were young, the family’s first dog Patti joined the family, followed later by Sheena and Sam. She also loved to spend time with her grand pups as well. She enjoyed attending activities and events for all her grandchildren, and was so proud of each of them.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all those who provided June with compassionate care during her illness. Special thanks to Drs. Tymchak, Kennedy, Sami and Stakiw; Debra, Addie and the Palliative Home Care Nurses; and most recently Luc and Tom from MD Ambulance and the doctors, nurses and staff of RUH. Thank you also to Sr. Carol for her spiritual and loving care that she has provided.
Flowers are gratefully declined, in lieu donations may be made to St. Mary’s Parish Nurse Ministry, or the Canadian Cancer Society. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 10:30 am. The service was held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church (211 Avenue O South, Saskatoon) with celebrant, Rev Fr. Steve Morrisey, CSSR. Rite of Commital took place at Woodlawn Cemetery.
