Marge Nainaar
(July 27, 1936 – November 6, 2011)
It is with overwhelming sadness and great love that we announce the unexpected passing of Marge Nainaar on Sunday, November 6th, 2011 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
Born in Durban, South Africa, Marge moved to Canwood, Saskatchewan in 1969 with her husband Sundras and her then three pre-school children Debbie, Linda and Jerome. To say that Marge had a sense of community or was proud to be Canadian would be a gross understatement. She not only epitomized those terms but was driven by something even bigger than herself, which was her spirit. She always knew she was put on this earth to help people, all people.
With that in mind after her children were grown she moved to Prince Albert and founded an immigrant and refugee settlement agency which is now the Prince Albert Multicultural Council. Marge has brought new meaning to the word dedication and has worked tirelessly to ensure that every person who walked into her life was welcomed with open arms and left with a nurtured spirit. Marge was a mother, not only to her own children but has become and assumed that role to hundreds of men, women and children. Each has come to depend on her always open door and her unending efforts to connect human being to human being, simply by listening.
Above all else, Marge loved her family. It was her family that brought her to Canada and her appreciation of this country itself drove her to be her best self each day. We are all so lucky to have had the brightest of lights bless us for 75 years. Marge, we will be forever grateful to you and will miss you terribly. We love you.
Marge is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Sundras; her daughters, Debbie (and Craig Cowper) of Saskatoon, Linda (and Brent and Jane Boeckx) of Calgary and her son Jerome (and Andrea Preddy) of Saskatoon. Marge was also brought great joy by her grandchildren Miranda (and Aaron Hector) of Calgary, Michael and Ben and Michael’s son Lucas, her great grandson. In South Africa she is survived by her sister Gladys and brother Frances. Marge is predeceased by her mother Anna Marie Michael, her father Cecil Michael, seven brothers and four sisters.
Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2011 with Sister Reneé officiating. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 14, 2011 with celebrant Reverend Father Matthew Nguyen. Both services will be held at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, 1401 – 4th Avenue West, Prince Albert, SK.
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, Drew Gray, Funeral Director.
