Russell “Russ” Bergen
(September 27, 1946 – November 10, 2011)
Russ passed away peacefully at Saint Paul's Palliative Care Unit with his family by his side. He has fought illness for the past five years and is now at peace. Russ will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a loyal friend.
Left to honor his memory are his mother, Rosella Bergen; sister, Carol (Conrad) Chalifour; his wife, Heather Bergen; children, Rod Bergen, Pamela (Owen) Schutz, Sayde Bergen, Jason Bergen, Raelene (Trevor) Harder and Lalaine (Geoff) Cuddie. Russ is also survived by grandchildren, Kyrah, Robynne, Nathan, Isaac and Madilyn Harder, Jaidan and Callyn Holder, Jackson Cuddie, and Mika and Tysier Schutz; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Russ was predeceased by his father, Dave Bergen and brother, Gene Bergen.
Russ was born in Rosthern, SK and spent the majority of his life living and working in the province. He had a profound love of the northern lakes and forests and happily spent the past fifteen years with his wife Heather on their acreage north of Christopher Lake, SK.
A Celebration of Russ's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 19th, at Windsor Chapel, 704 Windsor Street (corner of 8th Avenue North and Windsor Street). This will be followed by a funeral service to be held at Saint Dunstan's Anglican Church (3025-264th Street, Aldergrove B.C.) on November 25th, at 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date.
The family would like to thank Dr. R. Kozakavitch and the staff of the Palliative Care Unit, for the kindnesses and care shown to Russ. Also thank you to all those who provided support via food, flowers, phone calls and visits to both Russ and his family. In celebration of Russ’s life, please wear cheery colors.
