Bertha Legare passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2011 from Good Shepherd Villa at the age of 94 years. Bertha was born November 6, 1917 to J.M. and Ernestine (Ferguson) Boucher in St. Louis, SK. She took her elementary schooling at Lecoq school and completed her high school with the Sisters of Providence as a boarder at the St. Louis Convent. She then attended teacher training in Saskatoon and began a long career in teaching first in Saskatchewan then in BC.
She married Charlie Legare on July 10, 1940. In 1947 they went to BC and lived there until retirement in 1976. In 1981, they moved back to Saskatchewan. Bertha enjoyed fancy work, reading and travelling.
She was predeceased by her husband Charlie in 1989; her parents in 1952; her brother Raymond in 1995; her sister Florence in 1998. She leaves to mourn her 3 sisters Odile Caron, Lea Regnier and Estelle Olynik; 2 brothers Lucien (Jim) Boucher and Real Boucher and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15 from St. Louis Roman Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 16 from St. Louis Roman Catholic Church by Father Greg Elder. Interment will take place at St. Louis Cemetery.
It is the family’s request that donations be made to the Good Shepherd Villa or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
