Neil MacDonald
(July 26, 1928 – November 17, 2011)
Mr. Neil J. MacDonald passed away November 17, 2011 in Prince Albert. Neil was born July 26, 1928 in North Battleford, SK and was raised in Bapaume, SK. After university came Government oil lease sales, sales with Colgate Palmolive, then Molson Breweries and moves to Saskatoon and Calgary. He was a member of the ACT for many years.
Returning to Prince Albert in 1976, Neil worked for PA Bottlers and then on to real estate for many years until his retirement. Neil met Muriel Pilon through his cousin Ken and they married June 18, 1954. They raised 4 children and they both took great delight in their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Neil was an avid reader and story teller. He loved to tell his family stories about his childhood and many travels and experiences. Neil and Muriel were both diehard Saskatchewan Roughrider fans.
Neil is survived by his children: Donald of Calgary, Kea (Michael) and their daughter Laura of Victoria, Douglas (Betty) and their children Emily and Julia of Prince Albert, Ross (Brenda) and their children Jamie (Georgia) of Prince Albert, Kea (Shawn Harder) of Lloydminster, Lisa (Trevor Fiddler) of Prince Albert and April of Saskatoon. Neil was especially proud to become a great grandfather to Owen and Thomas MacDonald, Austin Harder, and Gracie Fiddler. He is also survived by his brother Donald (Sheila) of Ontario, sister-in-law Maddie of Russel, MB and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Muriel, his parents Donald and Laura, his wifes parents Moise and Mabel Pilon, sister-in-law Melba and brother-in-law Mike.
At Neil’s request there will be a graveside service at Memorial Gardens at a later date. The family requests that memorial tributes be made to the Victoria Hospital Foundation Give a Little Life Day in Lieu of flowers.
