Howard Steen
(December 5, 1942 – November 30, 2011)
Howard passed away peacefully November 30, 2011 at Mont St. Joseph Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. Howard was born December 5, 1942 to Harold and Sylvia (nee Holms) Steen in Kinistino, SK. He was raised in Weldon. Following high school he left Weldon to pursue a career in Mental Health. Howard trained as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse graduating from Saskatchewan Hospital in North Battleford. In 1985 Howard completed a certificate in Business Administration from the College of Commerce at the University of Saskatchewan. During his extensive career Howard provided mental health services in many communities including Moose Jaw, Regina, North Battleford, Prince Albert and Melfort.
In 2000 Howard retired as the Director of Impatient Services at the Prince Albert Mental Health Center. Howard enjoyed many past times including spending time at his cabin at Emma Lake, boating, golfing, skiing, travelling to warm destinations, and visiting with many friends.
Howard will be sadly missed by his wife Barbara (nee Benson) of Prince Albert; his daughter Kimberly (Glenn) Kenke of Warman; his grandson Sam; his brother Wayne (Nadine) Steen of Weldon; his nephews Colin (Angie) Steen of Minneapolis, Todd (Cam) Steen of Martensville and extended family and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Sylvia (1987) and his sister Patricia (1988).
Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Eldon Danielson officiating. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to Mont St. Joseph Nursing Home or the Prince Albert Regional Mental Health Center or Charity of Donor’s Choice.
