Frances Jane Howland
(April 18, 1914 – November 30, 2011)

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Frances Jane Howland of Prince Albert, SK on November 30, 2011 at the Victoria Hospital.

Frances was born in Regina, SK on April 18, 1914. The family moved to the village of North Regina in 1914. In 1932 they moved to the Spruce Home area where they farmed until the death of her father in 1943. Frances’ first job was as a domestic. In 1942 she got a job at the M&C Aviation Repair Depot at the Prince Albert airport. After the war she worked for the Prince Albert Manufacturing Company. She later got a job with an insurance company where she worked until she retired. Frances married Douglas Howland in 1951.

She was predeceased by her husband Doug, her parents Ernest and Frances Wilcox, her brother George and family member of over 30 years, Thomas Carter. She is survived by her sister-in -law Rose (Dennis) Williams of North Battleford, brothers-in-law Cyril (Agnes) Howland of Prince Albert and Gerald (Diane) Howland of Kelowna BC and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frances enjoyed gardening and did fancy needlework until her eyesight got too bad for her to continue with this pastime. She was a long time member of the P.A. Legion and spent many happy hours playing shuffleboard and darts and socializing with friends at the legion clubrooms. She will be missed by family, neighbors and friends.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday December 6th, 2011 1pm at Northern Funeral Service, MacKenzie Chapel, 130 9th St. E, Prince Albert, SK with Rev Nora Vedress officiating. Interment will take place in the South Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
