Gordon Ross Henderson
(May 23, 1944 – December 22, 2011)
On December 22, 2011 Ross crossed over the rainbow bridge to join his favourite pet, Fancy. Ross was a private man who liked simple things in life, but who possessed a heart of gold. His retreat and healing place was his home at Little Bear Lake. Ross was an extremely talented individual – a loving husband, a teacher, a craftsman, an artist, a photographer, a jewellery maker, a lover of nature, and especially an animal lover. He will be remembered by all for his quick wit and dry sense of humour.
Ross was born and raised in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan by his predeceased parents, Andrew Murray and Melrose Henderson. His many talents were visible at a very early age. He attended PACI Art College through SAIT in Calgary. He taught visual media, drafting, surveying, marketing, design and photography at Kelsey (SIAST) for 33 years.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 41 ½ years, Shirley (nee Galgan), his mother- in- law, Pauline Galgan, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gail and Bernie Huber and their children, Laura and Bryan Prefontaine, Lee and Shauna Huber and Blake Huber and his special great nieces, Kalli and McKenna Prefontaine.
A special thank you to Dr. Friggstad and the 6300 Transitional Care Unit City Hospital for their special care.
As per Ross’ wish, there will be no formal service, but there will be a time of remembrance on January 6, 2012, from 7 to 9 p.m. (with a short program at 7:45 p.m.) to be held at Windsor Chapel, 704 Windsor St., Saskatoon (corner of 8th Ave N. and Windsor; wheelchair accessible).
Those who cannot attend the time of remembrance are invited to e-mail condolences to www.mourningglory.ca. Arrangements in care of David Schurr, MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (978-5200).
