Claude Adams
(February 18, 1926 – December 26, 2011)
Claude Adams passed away peacefully on Monday, December 26, 2011 at the Herb Bassett Home, at the age of 85 years. Claude was born on February 18, 1926, the tenth of a family of ten; Claude married Polly Manchur in 1952 resided in Prince Albert. Claude’s passion was playing music and entertaining people. He is known as the man with the blue fiddle and played publicly for over 70 years at shows and dances. Later in his life, he enjoyed entertaining at seniors’ homes and was recognized at the 2008 Sask Country Music Awards, receiving the “Legends and Legacy Award”.
Claude took great pride and honor in his involvement with the Royal Canadian Legion and especially enjoyed the Canada Day celebrations. Claude helped start the Prince Albert Winter Festival and his involvement included organizing, participating in the Country North Show and fiddling contest, racing dogs and being Mr. Winter Festival.
Throughout his life, Claude was always willing to help his community. Claude’s greatest joy was his family. He took great pride in his two sons, who followed in his musical footsteps and enjoyed their families company. He had a special place in his heart for each of his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was a fun grandfather.
Claude was predeceased by his wife of 43 years Polly; his 2nd wife Irene Johns Adams; his parents Thomas and Florence Adams; his sisters: Vonda, Rosa, Agnes and Winnie; his brothers: Chesley, Sid, Cecil, Thomas and Colin. Claude leaves to mourn his son Dennis (Becky) of Prince Albert and grandchildren Amanda, Angie (Terry) and Laurren (Rick) and great grandchildren Lucas, Tiana, Dustin, Taylor, Brock and Cheyenne, and son Dale (Brenda) of Prince Albert and grandchildren Melissa (Kevin) and Steven (Rhoda) and great grandchildren Aiden; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service for Claude will Be held on Friday, December 30, 2011 at MacKenzie Chapel, Prince Albert at 1:00 pm.
