Lucienne Marie Brassard
(August 7, 1916 – December 31, 2011)
Lucienne Brassard passed away peacefully with family members by her side on December 31, 2011 at the Herb Bassett Care Home in Prince Albert, at the age of 95 years.
Lucienne was born to Donat and Marie Gignac in Albertville, SK on August 7, 1916, the eldest of a family of thirteen. Lucienne married Cléophas Brassard on Nov. 10, 1942 and together they farmed and raised their family in Albertville. Lucienne was known for her quilting talents and her wonderful flower and vegetable gardens. Lucienne loved to spend time with her family and enjoyed visits from her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lucienne was predeceased by her husband of 53 years Cléophas; her daughter Angele; her parents Donat and Marie Gignac; brothers Lucien and Damien; sister Dorélice and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Lucienne will be sadly missed by her children Hélène (Ron) Coates of Fort Saskatchewan, AB, Marcel (Simone) Brassard of Albertville, SK, Henry (Lorraine) Brassard of Meath Park, SK, Bernadette Lacroix of Creighton, SK and Claude (Gwen) Brassard of Prince Albert, SK; 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; sisters Emelda Chenier, Rose Boutin, Mathilda Dussault, Sr. Hélène Gignac, Sr. Angeline Gignac, and Elise (Andre) Brulé; brothers Rodolphe “Ralph” (Georgette) Gignac, Ubald (Flore) Gignac and Raymond (Gaetane) Gignac; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A special thank-you to all the staff at the Herb Bassett Home and Kopera House for the excellent care they provided Lucienne over the last number of years.
Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday January 4, 2012. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday January 5, 2012 with celebrant Reverend Father D.J. Vu. Both services will be held at St. James Church in Albertville, SK. Interment will be held at the Albertville Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made in remembrance of Cléophas and Angele, who both passed away from cancer, to the Canadian Cancer Society, 54 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9 or Charity of Donor’s Choice.
