Arthur Creurer

Arthur Creurer passed away suddenly on January 5, 2012 at the age of 85 in his home. He was the fourth child born to Joseph & Cécile (née Fagnou). Arthur attended Lacombe School and he proceeded to attend the University of Saskatchewan where he received his Vocational Agriculture Diploma in 1946. Arthur married Jeanne Pérault in December 1958. Together they farmed and raised their family of three children. Arthur was committed to farming and never completely retired. He enjoyed helping Gilbert and did not even miss a day of work this past harvest. His whole life was dedicated to farming, he loved nature, animals, berry picking, gardening and bird feeding/watching. He used to also enjoy curling, annual ski trips to the mountains and shared many memorable fishing trips to Northern Saskatchewan lakes with relatives and friends. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus since 1952 and was involved with community projects when his services were required. Arthur enjoyed travelling over the years to such places as Arizona, Florida, Israel & Churchill. He especially enjoyed his trips to Europe to visit Anita and her family and also distant relatives in Brittany, France. Arthur was a very quiet and gentle man that will be forever missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Jeanne and his family Anita (Thierry) Hecquet, Christel, Jérémy, Étienne, Jade, and Amy; Gilbert (Donna Holmquist); and Chantal (Gary) Shaner, Renée, Racquel and Marc. Brother, André Creurer, sister, Céline Creurer, sister-in-laws, Suzanne Creurer, Irène Fagnou, Olive Ferré, brother-in-laws, Joseph LeGatt, Théophane Ferré, Joseph Pérault, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph & Cécile Creurer, his sister Emma LeGatt, brother Émile Creurer, sister-in-laws Annette Creurer, Sister Marie Pérault & bother-in-law Alain Fagnou. Vigil of Prayer was held Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Both services were held from St. Brieux Roman Catholic Church. The presiders for prayers were Bernard Ferré and Arthur LeGatt. The celebrant was The Most Reverend Archbishop Albert LeGatt. Cross Bearer was Renée Shaner. Scripture Readers were Cécile Hunt, Irène LeGatt and Yvonne Silzer. Intentions were given by Janet Creurer. Gift bearers were Racquel and Marc Shaner. Pallbearers were Joseph Creurer, Roger Creurer, Arthur LeGatt, Steven Pérault, Bernard Ferré and Alain Ferré. Usher was Denis Mevel. Mass servers were Céline & Émile Ferré. Music ministry was provided by Susan Creurer, Lorraine Hoehn, Ed Daubenfeld, Paul Leray and the St. Brieux Choir. Rite of Committal followed at St. Brieux Roman Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions, in memory of Arthur, may be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society and/or the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
