FOSTER, Thomas ‘George’, late of Birch Hills – It is with deep sadness that the family of George Foster announces his peaceful passing on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert. George was born on the family farm near Birch Hills on July 19, 1913 to Thomas and Eveline Foster. In 1941, he met Marg Neste; they were married March 3, 1942 in Flin Flon, MB and were blessed with two children, a daughter, Georgine and a son, Gary. Prior to their marriage, George worked on farms in Oregon, Idaho and around Birch Hills as well as at a mine in Flin Flon, MB. He was a skilled mechanic, working at Scott Bros Garage until he retired in 1978. He also farmed a quarter section of land, which he did while working at Scott Bros and after he retired. He enjoyed gardening, watching sports and fishing and could build or repair anything. George is survived by his children Georgine (Allen) Harper and Gary (Joan); his grandchildren, Jamie Tilford, Lea (Dale) Swenson, Robin (Candis) Harper, Regan (Andrea) Harper, David (Jacquie Harkins) Foster, Logan (Erin) Foster and Lindsay (Sheldon) Halladay; his great grandchildren, Brock, Greer and Tyler Tilford and their father, Bruce Tilford, Jen and Jordan Swenson, Brendan and Brett Harper, Mia Harper, Nathan and Seraphina Foster, and Hawke and Alexandria Halladay; his sister Erma Corney; his sisters-in-law, Peggy Foster and Rene Foster and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Marg; his parents, Thomas and Eveline Foster; great granddaughters, Dana Swenson and Aurelia Foster; siblings, Jack (Leona), Gordon (Vera), Carl (Dorothy), William “Coosty”, Ellen (Cliff) Patterson, Alex, Alva (Earl) Olver and Frank; brother-in-law Maurice Corney and Marg’s siblings, K.O. Neste, Dee Neste, Eleanor (Roland) Armeneau, Coral (Bill) Clark and Merle (Richard) Harless. The celebration of George’s life will be held at St. Mary’s – St. Anne’s Church in Birch Hills on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 3:00pm with Reverend Nora Vedress officiating. Interment at Birch Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Birch Hills Cemetery, Victoria Hospital Foundation – 6th Floor Unit or Birch Hills United Church.
