Walter Michael Palidwar
Walter Michael Palidwar, late of 525 River Street West, passed away February 27, 2012 at the age of 75 years. He was born on May 12, 1936 at Honeymoon, SK. He attended Padole School. Walter began farming at an early age, first helping his dad and later after marriage, farming on his own. He married Mary Ewanchyna, on August 24, 1957. They worked and resided in the Honeymoon district for 50 years. In 2007, they retired from farming and moved to Prince Albert. Wally was a loving husband and father, always willing to lend a hand and was never one to sit around. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. Walter loved to fish, pick blueberries, and be in the forest cutting wood. He enjoyed bowling, curling, golfing, skidooing and driving the trails on his quad. Walter was involved in his church and community. He was an elder in his church at Honeymoon and sat on the Church board as well as held numerous positions on the Honeymoon Hall Board. Walter spent 31 years as a councilor in the RM of Buckland. Walter is survived by his loving wife and family, Mary; 3 daughters Linda Hodge, Marion Palidwar and Natalia Nykiforuk (Peter Gibbon); two wonderful grandchildren Eric Nykiforuk and Erin Nykiforuk (Dave Reiter); his brothers John (Deanna) Palidwar and Ronald Palidwar; his sister Karen McKay; his brothers-in-law Joseph (Helen) Ewanchyna and Jerry (Rose) Ewanchyna and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Wasyl and Nellie Palidwar; his in-laws Wasyl and Ksenia Ewanchyna and his son-in-law Grant Hodge. Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2012 at Gray's Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Father Michael Lomaszkiewicz officiating. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 305 – 6th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Father Michael Lomaszkiewicz officiating. Interment will be held at Honeymoon Cemetery. Reception to follow Interment at the Honeymoon Ukrainian Co-op Hall. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan 279 – 3rd Avenue N, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8.
