Selma Stobbe
The family of Selma (Sally) (Dyck) Stobbe is thankful that she peacefully went to be with the Lord on March 2, 2012, after a long struggle with ALS and cancer. Selma was born on May 22, 1938 to Jacob Peter and Justina Dyck. She was the youngest of a family of eleven children who reached maturity. She grew up in the small farming community near Laird, SK and attended school in Carmen and Laird. At the age of six, she came to the realization that she needed to make a personal decision for Christ. This was a commitment that she followed through all her life. On July 15, 1958, Ed Stobbe and Selma were married in Clearbrook, BC. Their first few years together were spent at Borden, Viscount and Rosthern before moving to Tisdale, which was to be home for twenty years before moving to Prince Albert. They had two children, Sandra and Ralph, and one grandchild, Bryan. Selma enjoyed music, genealogy, travelling, camping, gardening, nature, crafts, and entertaining. She had terrific organizational skills, which she was able to utilize in various jobs and volunteer opportunities, including one of her main interests, church. Selma was predeceased by her parents, Jacob & Justina Dyck; her siblings: Hertha & Dave Hinz, Helen & Ruben Dyck, Elsie Dyck, Paul Dyck, Elsie & Harold Martin, Frieda & Dave Martens, Herman Dyck, Linda & Henry Letkeman, Waldo Dyck, Tena & Jake Hiebert, Erica Wiebe, Margaret Dyck, Jacob James Dyck and Ruben Dyck. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Ed; daughter, Sandra; son, Ralph (Penny King); grandson, Bryan; sister, Doris Siemens; brother-in-law, George Wiebe; “sister-in-law” Irma Loewen, and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church, 1351- 28th Street East, Prince Albert, SK on Tuesday, March 6 at 10:00 am. Donations may be made in Selma’s memory to the ALS Society or the Gideons.
