Elsie Elvira Pfeiffer

PFEIFFER, Elsie Elvira – was born on May 4, 1926, the only child of Andry & Fred Pearson, pioneers of the Silent Call District, Polwarth, SK. Tragedy struck this family when on January 9, 1931, Elsie's mother passed away. Following this she made her home with her grandmother, Jennie Hagglund. After attending the Lund School, she was employed in Melfort for a few years. On October 5, 1949 she married Larry Johnson, a farmer in the Naisberry District. Tragedy struck again, when Larry passed away suddenly in September, 1974. She later met another bachelor farmer from the Lake Lenore area and Clarence and Elsie were married in August, 1978. After purchasing a house on Vanier Place, they enjoyed several bus tours to the U.S.A. and ocean cruises. Clarence's health began to fail and he passed away in October, 1995. Elsie later moved to Diefenbaker Place where she made many new friends and enjoyed the various activities. Over the years she endured many major health problems, and after a lengthy illness, passed away in Melfort Union Hospital on March 14, 2012. Elsie was predeceased by her parents Andry & Fred Pearson; husbands Larry Johnson and Clarence Pfeiffer; grand parents Edward & Jennie Hagglund and Peter & Tilda Larson; sisters and brothers-in-law, as well as uncles and aunts. Lovingly remembered by sister-in-law Ina Twigge, Prince Albert; in-law Joyce & Joe Nosbush, Lake Lenore; Phyllis & Bob Stewart, Anchorage, Kentucky, U.S.A.; Carole & Martin Hetzel, Humboldt and Dennis Pfeiffer, Williams Lake, B.C. and special pen pal of 70 + years Lois Burton, Pugwash, Nova Scotia. Graveside service was held Monday, March 19, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery with Pastor Dave MacPherson officiating. Memorial contributions, in memory of Elsie, may be directed to a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the MELFORT FUNERAL HOME Ltd. of Melfort, SK. (306)-752-2714.
