Elsie Agnes Cadieu
CADIEU, Elsie Agnes, it is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Elsie Agnes Cadieu on April 14, 2012 at the Victoria Hospital, after a brief illness. Elsie (a twin) was born on the family farm on May 24, 1919 to George and O'tillia Cadieu of the Avebury District, SK. During her growing-up years, Elsie developed a great love for all farm animals and all things provided by nature. After her schooling, Elsie left the farm and moved to Prince Albert where she successfully completed a business course and started working at the Prince Albert Lumber Yard. Later, from the early 70's to the mid 80's, Elsie was employed by Mahoney Travel and Lobstick Travel. Elsie enjoyed her amicable connection with the travelling public, and she herself would get to travel to countries all over the globe. Elsie lived a very active life and forged many lasting friendships with her love of sports, namely golfing and curling. She loved music, enjoyed shopping, attending her church and keeping in touch with family and friends. After retiring from the travel business, Elsie devoted her time to community service, Meals-on-Wheels, the Pineview Home Auxilliary, the Prince Albert Housing Authority and the Caledonian Society were just a few organizations Elsie served. Elsie will be sadly missed and always remembered with love by: her aunt Bella Cadieu; her cousins Grant (Bonnie) Cadieu, Kathleen (Jim) Materie, Les (Vera) Cadieu, Marion (Viggo) Rode, numerous other cousins, and step-nephews Jim (Anne) and Gil Marks. She was predeceased by her parents George and O'tillia Cadieu; her twin sister and brother-in-law Alice and Howard Harley and her brother Henry Cadieu and sister-in-law Irene. Interment will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the Leask Cemetery and a Celebration of Life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Wesley United Church, 65 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Tony Thompson officiating. Those wishing to make a donation in Elsie's memory may do so to The Children's Wish Foundation, 3602 Millar Avenue, P.O. Box 309, Saskatoon , SK S7K 3L3. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, Drew Gray, Funeral Director.
