Stan Danbrook
It is with profound sadness that the Danbrook family announces Stan's passing on Sunday, April 29, 2012, following a brief encounter with acute leukemia. Stan leaves two sons, Spencer (Cheryl) of Saskatoon, SK and Scott (Nancy) of London, ON; six grandchildren Jared of Edmonton, AB, Kylie, Colby and Tegan of Saskatoon, SK, Chanel & Ciana of London, ON; younger brother Glenn (Pat) of Victoria, BC; sister-in-law Bertha Danbrook of Enderby, BC; three brothers-in-law Al (Agnes) Green of London, ON, Keith of Victoria, BC and Les of Saskatoon, SK. Stan was predeceased by his wife Brittie May in 2003; his parents Harold and Ethel Danbrook; two brothers Ivan and Don & sister-in-law Margaret all of Enderby, BC; sisters-in-law Ruth Pears, Joan Green and Almira Green and brother-in-law Jack Pears. Dad graduated from the school of Psychiatric Nursing in North Battleford in 1957 and continued to work there until his transfer to North Park Centre (P.A. Training School) in 1962. In 1969 he accepted the position of Recreational Therapy at the Victoria Hospital and then to Director of Personnel prior to retirement in 1993. Upon this retirement he immediately became the Executive Director of the Hospital Foundation, a position he held until full retirement in 1998. Dad had a great love for family, friends and community, serving on several boards such as the United Way, Scout Leader for the 14th Calvary Scout Group, in charge of billeting for the Prince Albert Raiders, a long standing member of the PA Exhibition Association, serving a term as president he received a Life Membership in the Association. A board member of Kin Enterprises he served as chairman of the New Building Fund Raising Committee. Dad also served a term on City Council. Dad had a great fondness of both the visual and performing arts serving on the Little Gallery Board, was president for a term and active in their fund raising projects. The Prince Albert Community Players was one of his favorite pastimes. He enjoyed all aspects of the theatre and working with a great group, all with the same interests. Another large part of Dad's life was the Prince Albert Optimist Club. He was an extremely active member holding down numerous positions and working on a vast majority of the club projects for over 40 years. He was recognized as “Optimist of the Year” on several occasions and was also a Life Member. In 1985 Dad's outstanding record of community service was recognized when he was named Prince Albert's “Citizen of the Year”. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2012 at Calvary United Church, 114 – 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Nora Vedress officiating. Interment will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Saskatoon, SK. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Victoria Hospital Foundation, 1200 – 24th Street West, Prince Albert, SK S6V 5T4 or to Charity of the Donor's Choice.
