Amelia Jane “Mel” Mindiuk
Amelia (Mel) Mindiuk passed away peacefully at home on May 20, 2012 after a faith filled journey through ALS. Mel was born April 2, 1938 at Christopher Lake, the third of four girls born to Kitty and Addy Haase. She attended Christopher Lake School and after graduation completed Laboratory Technologist training which led to employment at the Victoria Hospital. On November 22, 1963 she married Walter Mindiuk and soon after began to raise a family. They farmed at Paddockwood for many years and later retired to Christopher Lake. Left to treasure her memory are three sons Blaine (Donna) Mindiuk, Dave Mindiuk, John (Janice) Mindiuk and their two children Emma (14) and Mason (11); three sisters Vera (Paul) Wolkosky, Becky McDonald, and Del Short; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends. Mel was predeceased by her husband Walter Mindiuk; and her parents Addy and Kitty (Sumners) Haase. “In the end what matters is who we loved and who loved us.” In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations may be made to St. Christopher's Anglican Church, Box 7, Christopher Lake, S0J 0N0. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at St. Christopher's Anglican Church, Christopher Lake, SK with The Reverend Patricia Martin officiating. Interment will be held at St. Christopher's Anglican Church Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
