Joseph Peneff
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joe Peneff. Joe was born In Prince Albert and resided here raising his family and pursuing various careers his entire life. Born August 21, 1933 and known to many of his longtime friends as Joe Pete, he reverted to the original family name of Peneff along with his brother Steve in 1977. Joe had various occupations dating back to the early 50's when he drove truck for Dawson's Transport. He continued in the customer service industry with Hudson's Bay Wholesale being the first technician trained in servicing the newest novelty of the day, the cigarette vending machine. In 1966 he changed careers and went to work at the Penitentiary in Prince Albert. He stayed for several years until going into the concrete finishing business in 1975. Joe became a foundation contractor and successfully managed Firm Foundations & Footings for over 20 years. As the physical demands of the concrete business became too demanding, Joe once again changed careers and worked for his good friend Ross Ethier at the Emma Lake Golf Course until his retirement in 2006. Always looking for something to do, Joe never felt comfortable not working. In 2010, however, Joe was diagnosed with lung cancer and it eventually took away even his desire to work. Joe is survived by his wife Pauline of 25 years and his two sons Calvin (Bonny) and their children Stephanie (Martin) Ryan (Rebecca) and Evan; Cameron (Dianna) and their children Nicole (Conrad) and Stacey and her special friend Dustin. He is also survived by his great grand-daughter Ava. In addition to his immediate family Joe is also survived by Pauline's two daughters Alice and her children Chris (Kayla) and Heather (Kevin) and Marie; her daughter Jennifer (Simon). He is also survived by Pauline's great grand-children Van and Dacey. Joe was always known as the guy trying to make people laugh. He always had a wise-crack about what-ever situation came along throughout his life. He especially loved fishing and took every opportunity to take his little red boat out on Christopher Lake to try for the “big one”. He was pre-deceased by his parents as well as several of his siblings. Joe's life was always about his kids, grand kids and the various nicknames he had for them all. Public visitation will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 3 from River Park Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 4 from Holy Trinity Orthodox Ukrainian Church – 684 – 3 Avenue East. Father Michael Lomaszkiewicz will officiate. Interment will take place in the Garden of Sermon on the Mount, Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. Family and friends may send email condolences to www.riverparkfuneral.ca. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Colette Kadziolka, Funeral Director.
