Ernest Frederick Norman Freitag
August 29, 1939 – June 27, 2012
It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our father, brother, grandfather, uncle and dear friend Ernie. Ernie passed away peacefully on June 27, 2012 at the Victoria Hospital with family and friends by his side. He was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec. He began his life's work as a diesel mechanic early on for several years working at home and abroad. In 1975 he moved to Prince Albert to start up a long and fulfilling career as a millright at the Prince Albert Pulpmill, until he retired in 2004. Ernie was actively involved in and around Prince Albert with many organizations and community groups, giving so much of his time to each and every one. He so strongly believed in the phrase “Pay It Forward” and applied it to his daily life. Ernie kept true to his faith and it helped him through life's joys and sorrows. Ernie was always a proud family man and involved with his many children and grandchildren's lives. Ernie is survived by his children Martin, Randy, Tanya, Lee-Ann, Ed, Eugene, Deedee, Maurice and Donna; his grandchildren Aidan, Zane, Zöe, Zaiden, Ashton, Melissa, Joey, Lairen, Jordan, Ryann, Peyton, Nickolas, Denny, Faith and Mark; his great grandchild Elias; his brothers Rob and Ron and his sister Joy. He was predeceased by his father Ernest; his mother Myrtle and two sisters Gail and Carol. A Celebration of Ernie's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at the First Baptist Church, 1351 – 28th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Mike Engbers officiating. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to a Charity of Donor's Choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, Drew Gray, Funeral Director.
