Teressa Jane “Terry” Smart
1921 – 2012
Terry passed away on March 5, 2012 at the age of 90. Terry was born the eldest daughter of Howard and Jessie (nee Laing) Lee in Elkhorn, MB. She moved to Virden at a young age. In 1940 Terry married Kenneth George Smart in Provost, AB. In 1941 Ken went overseas with the Army and was in Holland returning in August 1945 at which time they returned to Macklin working with his dad in Smarts' Meat Market. In 1947 they moved to North Battleford with O.K. Economy Meat Department and in 1949 they moved to Rosetown with the O.K. Economy Store. In December 1949 they moved to Prince Albert and Ken passed away in 1958. After attending Park City Business College, Terry worked for the City of Prince Albert from 1959 until her retirement in 1986, She spent the next 10 years in Prince Albert and her summers at Emma Lake. In 1997 she moved to Edmonton to be closer to her family. Terry is survived by her loving daughters Lynn (Michael) Murton and Lee (Randall) Martin; her grandchildren Greg, Heather (Cory) and Cheryl (Rick); one great grandson Memphis Chenard; her sisters Betty Stephenson, Isabell (Jack) Stephenson and Audrey Campbell and numerous nieces and nephews. Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2012 at Gray's Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Celebrant Val Bodnark. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 54 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 – 3rd Avenue N, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8.
