Passler – Francis Dale
Dale was born on April 5th, 1963 in Yorkton, SK., and succumbed to heart failure in the RUH in Saskatoon on June 29th, 2012, despite having made good recovery from a number of surgeries dealing with congenital heart problems. Dale was adopted by Ken and Lorraine Passler and family (Breta, Gregory, Leah and Jeff) in March of 1974 while the family lived in Uranium City. It was here that Dale completed his elementary and high school education and formed many friendships with his high energy, sense of humour and out-going personality. Aside from school, Dale enjoyed boating, swimming, fishing, snowmobiling, dog mushing, hunting and camping. He particularly enjoyed a host of activities at the family cabin at Milliken Lake during winter weekend trips there with his brothers, his Dad and friends. These trips were highlighted by exploratory day trips to Lake Athabasca and surroundings. Dale’s creative nature and manual skills came to light early in the family’s workshop and were honed when the family built an addition to the family home. In his adult years, Dale’s creativity and artistic abilities were manifested in the production of fine woodwork, stained glass work, photography and computer mastery. The demise of Eldorado Nuclear’s Beaverlodge mine in 1982 launched the family’s move to Unity, SK. Dale played a key role, along with family members, in building, loading and moving some large trailers with family possessions. While in Unity, Dale earned his journeyman sheet-metal status. Dale met Margie Nesland in Unity and they subsequently married. They moved to Calgary where they worked with a number of heating and plumbing companies and subsequently established their own business. Here, too, they established a close relationship with his adoptive sister Debi. Dale and Margie moved to Ken and Lorraine’s property in the Christopher Lake – Tweedsmuir district in 2007. They established their Lakeshore Services business and developed many friendships. In addition to his wife, Margie, his parents and siblings, Dale’s passing will be mourned by nieces, nephews, in-laws and many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Christopher Lake Legion Hall at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 22nd, 2012. In lieu of other tributes, we’d ask that contributions be offered, in Dale’s name, to the R.U.H. Cardiac Department in Saskatoon. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, Marianne Turcotte, Funeral Director.
