1926 – 2012
It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Robert Rochlitz (late of Smeaton). Robert passed peacefully on July 2, 2012 at the Victoria Hospital. Robert Lee Rochlitz was born at home in Deuel County, Nebraska on July 14, 1926. He served in WWII at sea as a Merchant Marine. In 1949 he married the love of his life, Ople Johnson. To this union were born 4 children. The family farmed and ranched in: Carpenter, Wyoming; Firesteel, South Dakota and Smeaton, SK. Robert is survived and lovingly remembered by his children Dawn (Alan) Farrell of Floresville, Texas; Julie (Bob) Reid of Smeaton, SK; Walker (Kay) Rochlitz of Midland, Michigan and Jenny (Bill) Bone of Prince Albert, SK; 8 grandchildren – Jill (Mark) Smith of Corona, California; Sondra (Joe) Garcia of Lake Hills, Texas; Ryan (Amy) Reid of Smeaton, SK; Norma (Ryan Lockwood) Reid of Vancouver, BC; Patrick Shanahan of Midland, Michigan; Megan Rochlitz of Midland, Michigan; Amanda and Melissa Bone of Prince Albert, SK; 7 great grandchildren – Tyler & MacKenzye Smith, Kiley, Shelby & Jesse Reid and Chance & Easton Garcia; his sister Juanita Zoucha of Big Springs, Nebraska. He was predeceased by his wife Ople Rochlitz; his parents Henry and Matilda Rochlitz and his brothers Roy, Norman, Harry and Raymond. A Celebration of Robert's life will be held on his birthday, July 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Gray's Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Dennis Serfas, Director Spiritual Care, Prince Albert Parkland Health Region officiating. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to Cub Hills Branch SWF – for the maintenance of the new walkabout trail at Shannon Lake, Att'n: D. Newton, PO Box 248, Smeaton, SK S0J 1T0.
