Paulsen-Hallam, Andrea Margaret
It is with heavy hearts that we, announce the sudden passing of a fabulous daughter, sister, wife and mother, at the young age of 29 years old. Andrea or Andi as she was known, was born on September 3, 1982 in Prince Albert, SK to the late Aksel Paulsen and Margaret (Anderson) Paulsen. She was a very dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. Andrea, like her father Aksel was a very unique individual, she was a master at making lifelong friendships, and with her mega watt smile, she would light up any room she walked into. Andrea's love of family, friends, animals, nature and fishing were her trademarks in life. She thoroughly enjoyed helping run the fourth generation family business, Paulsen & Son Excavating Ltd. Her love of animals, most particularly her horses and dogs were just some of her passions. She started riding horses at the tender age of three and has been a cowgirl ever since. She married her best friend, soulmate and high school sweetheart, Matthew “Matt” Hallam, on December 29, 2005, in Las Vegas, Nevada, with many of their closest family and friends attending to celebrate the special occasion and cheer them on into their future together. Matthew was the love of her life and on September 12, 2011, she gave birth to their son, Zachary Aksel, at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, and he too became the love of her life, adding joy and happiness to their relationship and completing their lives. Andi, like her dad, Aksel was never one to mince words, you always knew where you stood with her, and she will be sorrowly missed by her best friend and soulmate, Matthew and infant son Zachary. Andi was predeceased by her father Aksel Paulsen; her maternal grandparents, D.H. “Andy” Anderson and Molly (Callaghan) Anderson; her paternal grandfather Borge “Pete” Paulsen; her nephew Legend Aksel Mitchell Paulsen; her maternal aunt Caroline “Carrie” Baggs and her paternal aunt Lorna Paulsen. Andi is survived by her husband and son Matthew and Zachary Hallam; her mom, Margaret Paulsen; siblings Jason (Carla Mitchell) & their children Kadin, Kolton, Lief and Molly Aaron (Kate Sander); Nicole (Nikki) & her children Aksel and Paisly; her paternal grandmother Edna Paulsen; her cousin Katelin (Greg) Parenteau; her special aunts and uncles Cathy and Garry Schrader with their family Codey (Jocelyn) Schrader & children Jordan and Austin, all of Prince Albert, Britany (Matt Reimer) of Saskatoon, as well Brodey Schrader, Willie and Letisha (Depeel) Anderson, with their daughters Ali and Lisa, all of Prince Albert; her cousins Laughlin Baggs of Selkirk MB and Chezerae Baggs of Prince Albert; her co-workers from Paulsen & Son Excavating Ltd.; “adopted siblings” Terry Chu of Prince Albert, Debby Jo (Reg) Muyard and their son Bobby of Deschambeault Lake, SK and Danny Franklin of LaRonge, SK; her mother-in-law Marylou King of Prince Albert; her father and step-mother-in-law Dan and Louise Hallam; brother-in-law Brad Hallam of Saskatoon, SK, Michael (Heather) Hallam and their son Parker of Whitewood, SK; Matt's grandparents Gerry and Wilma Hallam and special aunt and uncle Denise and Dale Hallam and their children Mitchell and Isaiha; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and beavy of friends too numerous to mention.
When I must leave you
for a little while
Please do not grieve
and shed wild tears
And hug your sorrow to you
through the years,
But start out bravely
with a gallant smile;
And for my sake
and in my name
live on and do
all things the same,
Feed not your loneliness
on empty days,
But fill each waking hour
in useful ways,
Reach out your hand
in comfort and in cheer
And I in turn will comfort you
and hold you near;
And never, never
be afraid to die,
For I am waiting for you in the sky!
