Brent Cherney

Brent Cherney, 46, passed away suddenly in his home on July 18th, 2012 in Prince Albert, SK. The celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 26th in Goodeve, SK at St. Michaels Cemetery following will be coffee and snacks at Goodeve School Gym. Brent was born on February 7th 1966 in Melville, SK to the proud parents Zelma Prokopiw and Steve Chorney. Brent was raised on a farm near Goodeve and attended school in Goodeve and Melville. From a young age Brent was a hardworking man, working on the farm. At the age of 20 he had his first son David Cherney, he was then married to Sandra Turchenek, Brent worked on many farms and farm related jobs, and also the CN railroad. He then started work on gravel crushers where he spent the last 20+ years. At the time of his passing he was working in a mine in Northern Saskatchewan. In 1996 Brent had his second son Mason, and also Lindsay Crawford who was close to his heart as a niece. Brent spent his entire life looking after others and making sure that everyone else was happy, healthy and had roof over their heads. In 2010 he had his first granddaughter Kaitlin Cherney, who he loved very much and she loved him, they were good buds. Brent was a very proud and happy grandfather. Brent was an unbelievable father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He worked so hard his whole life to make a better life for his kids. He was always ready to lend a hand no matter what. Brent was a big Roughrider fan and it was pretty rare you didn't see him wearing a rider shirt or hat. He loved his kids, granddaughter and family so much. Brent also had sponsored a child in Peru, Diego a young boy who needed his help. Brent also donated to several organizations. Brent will be truly missed and hopefully never forgotten…. Brent left behind his mother Zelma Prokopiw of Melville, SK; his son David Cherney, Jen Stephens and granddaughter Kaitlin Cherney from the Prince Albert area; his son Mason Demerais of Prince Albert; his niece Lindsay Crawford of Luseland, SK; his ex-wife and friend Sandra Turchenek of Luseland SK; his brother Ken Cherney of Goodeve, SK and family Nathan, Angela and Garrett; his brother Garry (Shelley) Cherney, and family Erica Cherney and son KC Stein of Melville, SK and Megan Cherney of Saskatoon; his brother John( Joanne) Cherney and family Corey and Cora , and children Brayden and Aaron, Leon and Kristina, and children Taija and Conner, Coralie and Daniel Mckay and child Hunter; his brother Kevin (Loralee) Cherney of Hinton Alberta. Brent was predeceased by: his father Steve Chorney of Goodeve, and stepfather Matt Prokopiw of Melville. Brent also leaves behinds many other family member and friends.
