Jim William Tkachuk was born to Walter and Gloria Tkachuk at Melfort, Saskatchewan on October 15, 1967. Jim enjoyed many activities growing up including; Ukrainian dancing, hockey, fastball, bowling and curling. He also enjoyed music, dancing, fishing and hunting, and just getting together with friends and family. He was a hard worker being a dry- waller, welder, and farmer, and was often busy helping out anyone who needed a hand. He met his dear wife Lori-Ann in Alberta and they were married in Crooked River, Saskatchewan, on October 24, 1992. Together with their first son Cody, they returned to Saskatchewan in 1994, to their first home in Resource, and two months later Landon was born. Jim always dreamt of having his own ball team, so it was no surprise when Colton was born in 1995, at which point they had outgrown their tiny house in Resource, and the family farm was purchased. Their family was complete with the birth of their fourth son, Jason in 2000. Jim was a caring and loving family man, who wanted only to provide his boys with the farm, its wide open spaces to grow, and the occasional fishing trip. Jim and Lori-Ann had many plans for family vacations that would be taken following one last year of mortgage responsibilities; these dreams did not fade with his diagnosis of a brain tumor in March, however, Jim being the one-in-a-million that he was, developed rare medical complications, and after a courageous four month battle, passed away on July 18th, 2012 with his family at his side.
There was nothing more important to Jim than family, and he took great joy in spending time with his nieces and nephews. Whenever possible, Jim would include his nieces and nephews in life on the farm, and they loved to ride with him in the tractor and help him with chores. It was his loving nature that made him the perfect choice as Godfather to Jessica, Sara, Alyssa, Cassandra (Tkachuk), and Brielle Leicht.
Jim was always there for his mom and dad, doing chores whenever needed and looking after the farm when they were away. Jim was a caring friend, son to be proud of, a loving husband and father, and the best brother his sisters could have asked for. He had a huge heart, awesome smile, and will forever be missed by his family and friends.
Jim is survived by; his loving wife Lori-Ann, their sons Cody, Landon, Colton, and Jason, his parents Walter and Gloria, sister and brother-in-law Lorri and Rob Jung, their children Stephanie, Sierra, Somer, and Kaden; sister and brother-in-law Debbie and Sheldon Leicht, their children Addison, Karson, Kyran, and Brielle; Father and Mother in-law Garry and Wendy Hardcastle, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gary and Paula Hardcastle, their children Chad, Jonathon, Shania, Austin, and Tianna; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Tracey and Scott Holdsworth, their children Jessica, Sara, Alyssa, and Cassandra (Tkachuk); as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Jim was pre-deceased by his Grandfather and Grandmother Jim and Margaret Tkachuk, Uncle Paul Tkachuk, Grandfather and Grandmother Willard and Laura Rosvold, and Aunt Phyllis Romaniuk.
