SISTER EUGÉNIE COUSIN
Sister Eugénie Cousin (Yves-Marie) of the Sisters of the Presentation passed away in the Provincial House Infirmary at 1405 Bishop Pascal Place in Prince Albert, SK on Tuesday, August 14th, 2012 at the age of 93 years. Sister was born on January 29, 1919 in St. Isidore-de-Bellevue, SK. After attending l'École Gaudet for a few years, she went to Duck Lake convent where she first met the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary. She enrolled at Teacher's College in Saskatoon at the age of 17. Upon completing her studies, she taught in the Bellevue, St. Louis and Richard areas for the next eight years. In 1945, she entered the Order of the Sisters of the Presentation in St. Hyacinth, Quebec. Immediately following her first commitment as a religious in 1948, she went to Marcelin for a few months and then to Stobart School in Duck Lake for seven years. In 1955, with three sisters, she founded the community in Makwa, SK where for the next ten years, she assumed duties of principal and high school teacher. After serving as principal at the Academy in P.A. for two years, she was named assistant/secretary at the Provincial level. For eighteen years, until 1986, countless articles, presentations, plays, reports flowed from her pen responding to innumerable requests. After retirement, she kept a keen interest in people, in her community and in civic events. Sister Eugenie will always be remembered for her sense of culture and patriotism, her humble and generous service, her fidelity to prayer and her sincerity in the service of God. She will be greatly missed. She leaves to mourn her Sisters of the Presentation, two sisters-in-law: Cécile Branger (Joseph), Lucille Roy (Pierre). She was predeceased by her parents: Yves-Marie Cousin and Marie-Jeanne Toullelan; a sister Alexina (Gareau); seven brothers: Paul, Joseph, Louis, Jean, Alexis, Pierre, Laurent. The Prayer service will be held in the Sisters of the Presentation, Provincial House Chapel on Thursday, August 16th at 7:30 pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated from this same chapel on Friday, August 17th at 10:00 am by His Excellency Bishop Albert Thevenot.
