Lillian May Benson (nee Sauer, Jarnett) passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 30, 2012 following a massive heart attack. Lillian is survived by her loving husband Merv Benson; her daughter Lisa Sauer & husband Pat O'Neill & grandsons Owen and Nolan & granddaughter Siobhan O'Neill; her daughter Jody Pederson & granddaughter Lauren and her brother John Jarnett. She was predeceased by her parents Violet and John Jarnett; sisters Mavis Kachmarski and Violet Chikie and long time husband Isaac J. Sauer. Lillian was born on October 17, 1942, moved to the Emma Lake area and then to Anglin Lake before settling on a farm in the Beaton School district. She was an avid hunter, trapper and loved fishing with Jack. For many years, she was an active member of the Beaton Community Club, was a life member of the Christopher Lake Legion #159, served as a volunteer member of the local library board for over 30 years, was active in the Seniors Club at Christopher Lake, and was the organist at the Christopher Lake Anglican Church from 1999 until, 2009. For a number of years, she worked at the Murray Point provincial campground and was Municipal Secretary for both the Paddockwood and Christopher Lake villages, retiring in 2001. Lillian and Merv Benson were married November 15, 2003. In November, 2009 she and Merv moved to a new home in Prince Albert, SK. A life lived close to nature, and her musical experiences, both with her husband Jack and their dance orchestra, as well as the organist experiences at St. Christophers, were very important to her. Her musical roles were a significant contributor to her successful battle with cancer in 2001. She was forever thankful of each day as a precious and important part of her life. Gardening, crocheting and needle work were important parts of her life on the farm and living at the lake. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at St. Christopher's Anglican Church, Christopher Lake, SK with The Reverend Patricia Martin officiating. Interment will be held at the Christopher Lake Cemetery with a reception/lunch to follow at the Christopher Lake Royal Canadian Legion. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to Memorial Fund, St. Christopher's Anglican Church, Christopher Lake, SK S0J 0N0. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
