MINTER – Leonard Minter passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the age of 90. Len was born in Moose Jaw, SK on October 23, 1921 to Fred and Eleanor (Daisy) Minter. He went to school in New Osgoode, SK. At the young age of 15 he went to work at a logging and lumber camp. In June 1940, Len enlisted in the army. He served for 5 years overseas and was discharged in October 1945. Upon his return from overseas, Len took a position with Northern Wood Preservers in Prince Albert, SK. In 1948, he married Alice Peters and they moved to Nipawin, SK where Len had taken a position with the Saskatchewan Timber Board. Len and Alice raised their seven children in Nipawin. Len served on town council for many years. Len and Alice loved to dance and were long-time members of the “Happy Harvesters” dance club. In the late 1960’s, Len took on managing the Texaco bulk fuel business in Nipawin. In 1980, Len went to work at the local Co-op lumber yard. In 1999, Len and Alice retired and moved to Prince Albert. Len enjoyed wood-working, hunting, fishing, music, and dancing. Len’s greatest joy came from raising his family and he took great pride in their accomplishments and enjoyed spending time with them. Len is survived by six children: Delbert Minter, Terry (Margaret) Minter, Daryl (Valerie) Minter, Gayle (Blair) Nelson, Sharon (Brad) Barlow and Vaughn (Angie) Minter. Len is also survived by his son-in-law Robert Daudelin; sixteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two sisters Zaida Simonds and Joyce McLachlan. Len was predeceased by Alice, his wife of 59 years; his brothers Fred Minter, Herb Minter and Arthur Minter; his daughter Elaine Daudelin; and his daughter-in-law Marion Minter. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2012 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Celebrant Val Bodynaryk. Interment will be held at South Hill Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations may be made to the Victoria Hospital Foundation, 1200 – 24 Street West, Prince Albert, SK S6V 5T4.
