Helen Burlock (nee Mareski) was born May 19, 1918 in the Gronlid district to Joseph & Mary (Chmura) Mareski. On November 20, 1939 she married Steve Burlock and they lived with Steve’s parents for 6 years prior to purchasing their farm in 1945. They began building a new home, living in a granary in the meantime. Helen and Steve worked together on the farm until the passing of Steve on October 2, 1976.
In 1977 Helen moved to Melfort where she resided until 2009; living independently and still driving at the age of 90. She then moved to Bev’s Personal Care Home in Kinistino prior to moving to Chateau Providence in St. Brieux in March 2010, where she passed away peacefully on November 6, 2012 at the age of 94.
