Blanche (Simpson) Moffat
April 1911 – November 2012
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother and best friend at the wonderful age of 101 years. Mom was a very warm hearted, kind soul who enjoyed the company of everyone. She was a great homemaker, cook and loved to garden. She was still able to bake bread and do all her own cooking at the age of 95 years. Mom was born on April 10, 1911 in the Spruce Home area and moved into Prince Albert at a young age to work. It was there she met the love of her life, Cec Simpson and they had 25 wonderful years together raising eight children. They loved to go fishing, camping and holidaying with their family. After Dad died, Mom re-married and spent another 25 years with our step-father, Bruce Moffat. They enjoyed their twilight years also by camping, fishing and travelling. She was an ardent curler, bowler and very active in the Legion Auxiliary. She moved into Mont St. Joseph Home in 2011 and enjoyed one full year there meeting many new friends. She is survived by her children and their families: Pat (Wally) Kaye, Debbie (Jim) Palmer, David (Valerie) Kaye; Gordon (Shirley) Simpson, Randy (Val) and Karen Simpson; Merle (Norma) Simpson, Fred (Kim), Kim (Curtis); Barbara Johnson, Brent (Jacquie) and Lisa (Al); Donna Bayda, Wade (Heather) and Brandy (Keith); David Simpson, Taylor and Karley. Mary Ann Simpson, Michael (Nancy), Marlene and Fredrick. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren and her very special friends, Freddie and Dave Zubiak. Mom was predeceased by: her first husband: Cecil Simpson in 1963; her second husband: Bruce Moffat in 1985; her daughter: Marlene Michel (Sept. 2004) and son: Fred Simpson (Nov. 2004); her grandchildren: Brenda Williams (1999) and Rusty Michel (1991); her great grandchildren: Jordan Williams (1986) and Arabella Loster (2009); her great great grandchild: JT Palmer (2008); her sons-in-law: Ralph Michel (2010), Dennis Johnson (2009) and Brian Bayda (2006). We would like to thank Level 5 of the Victoria Hospital for the exceptional care that was given to Mom and the kindness extended to the family. Also, to the Caregivers at Mont St. Joseph – you made Mom a welcome member of your extended family and she loved living there. We will miss you all! A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2012 – 1:00 pm, MacKenzie Chapel, Prince Albert, SK, with Rev. Tony Thompson officiating. Arrangements in care of Northern Funeral Service, MacKenzie Chapel. Brian and Bev Stobbs, Funeral Directors. 306.763.8488 www.northernfuneralservice.ca
