Marklan Jerry Robert Thorpe
April 27, 1952 – December 15, 2012
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear brother and uncle, Mark. Born in Melfort, SK to Glenn and Eileen Thorpe, he was the eldest of four. Mark was predeceased by his parents and leaves to mourn: two sisters, Sherry Thorpe and her children, Brett Ewachow and Morgann LeComte (Justin and children, Everett and Lily) and Melanie (Ade) Barnum and their children, Kelsey and Burke; brother, Kevin Thorpe and his children Dylan and Brennen; extended family, and numerous friends and relatives. Mark was educated in Yorkton, SK and graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Philosophy. He returned to Saskatchewan to help his father in the powerline business until it was sold. He started a new career in administration with the banking industry and Sask Power. Upon suffering heart problems, he moved to California for a decade moving back to Saskatchewan in 2008. He enjoyed writing poetry, was a voracious reader, conversationalist, loved music and was a sports enthusiast. Mark took great enjoyment in his family’s successes and was a shoulder to lean on in their failures. Mark realized his time was short and reinvented himself, integrating more of his time to his family. “Cherish the life, value the time and keep on truckin”. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched. Mark’s wishes were to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.hawrylukfuneralhome.com. Arrangements entrusted to Hawryluk Funeral Home. 466.4822
