Laurent Pocha

Mr. Laurent Pocha, age 74, beloved husband of Mrs. Barbara Pocha of Prince Albert, SK passed away on Monday, February 4, 2013, with his family by his side. Laurent is survived by his loving family: his wife of 45 years Barbara (nee Ford); two daughters Sandra and Kimberly (Emil); two granddaughters Stephanie and Heather (James); four great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Harley, Hailey and Jayce; ten foster grandchildren; one brother Charles (Opal); special niece Brenda Paul; two sisters-in-law Edith Pocha and Winnie Pocha. He was predeceased by his parents Philip and Bertha (née Dumais) Pocha; six brothers Edward, Robert, Martin, Louis, Leon and his twin brother Michael.; three sisters Agnes, Josephine and Alice. Laurent was born and raised on a farm near Duck Lake. He attended Magnolia School until it burnt down. He then helped his Dad cutting cord wood. At a young age he wanted to explore the world. He came to Prince Albert and after many short term jobs, he became a welder and worked at Leach’s building snow plow blades for a few years. He then became a carpenter and that was his trade until he retired. Laurent worked up North for fourteen years, then decided to stay home with his family. He worked as a maintenance supervisor for P. A. Community Housing Society for twenty-one years and he retired in 2002. Laurent was a member of Local #269, a member of the Army and Navy and a lifetime member of St. Mark Knights of Columbus and very proud of it. The family would like to thank Eleanor Crawford and the nurses on the 6th floor of the Victoria Hospital and also Dr. Egbeyemi for the very special care they gave Laurent while he was in the hospital. Prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 7 from River Park Memorial Chapel. Sister Renée Buliard will officiate. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 8 from St. Mark Roman Catholic Church, 589 – 9 Street East by Father Tuan Doan. Interment will take place in the Garden of Christus, Prince Albert Memorial Gardens.
